Machine Quilting Class
Learn a variety of background filler designs to enhance your next quilting project! First we’ll practice the designs on paper, and then we’ll begin practicing on mini quilt sandwiches. Below are some of the filler designs you can expect to learn.
Students must already know the basics of free-motion machine quilting as basic instruction is not given in this workshop.
Prepare 8-10 small quilt sandwiches, measuring approximately 18” x 18”.The fabric should be plain white, black, or other solid color so that your quilting will show up
Use a 100% cotton batting or a 80%/20% cotton/poly blend
To prepare your practice quilt sandwiches, base the backing, batting and top together with basting spray (I recommend 505 Spray and Fix, which is a temporary adhesive and washes out) or safety pins. If you don’t have any 505 Spray and want to give it at try, I will have some at the class for you to try out
If you prefer to jump in and quilt a project that you have ready, bring it along.
Supply list will be provided with class registration through Honey Run Quilters
There is a 20% discount on fabrics and class supplies at Honey Run Quilters
We will take a short break for lunch. Feel free to bring a sack lunch with you, or visit one of the surrounding restaurants for a quick bite.
