Learn how to use your serger for more than just finishing. Each month you will create a new project learning at least one new technique. Janice will show you how to use decorative threads, install zippers, stitch on ribbons and all on the serger.
New this month: Boxey Bag!
Supply List: Two fat quarters of quilters cotton, one for the outer bag and one for the lining. A 16 inch zipper (plastic teeth). The zipper can match or contrast, it can be longer but not shorter. I find that a contrasting zipper really makes the bag pop. 1/2 yd.of Fusible fleece interfacing, like Pellon Fusable Thermolam Plus. If you can't find this you will want one that is fairly thick..this will give your bag some body. You will need 4 serger thread cones, it would be best if they matched your lining as some stitches will show on the inside. Fray check, a fabric marker in a color that you can see against your bag lining. Pins, wonder clips, old scissors, serger, cords, serger instruction manual and thread guide. Rotary cutter, quilters acrylic ruler.
To speed things up for the class please cut your fabrics prior to coming. The outer bag and lining should be 18 inches by 13 inches. Cut the fusible fleece 18 x 13 as well. If you would like you can bring in two sets of fleece/ material/zipper and we may have time to do two bags. Two different looks one pattern!! How versatile.
Serger must be in good working condition and student must know how to thread the serger. If you are unsure, please practice before class. Always bring your manual.
