Sew Together Bag with Dorrie

Need a great little bag to stow all of your sewing notions? This one will do it! The Sew Together Bag comes equipped with three zippered pockets, four open pockets and an option for a needle landing. It’s designed to hold a rotary cutter, an 8” scissor, marking tools, seam ripper, thread, needles and more! Choose fabrics to reflect your individual personality—need a bit of assistance, let the staff at HRQ guide you through the fabric and notions process.

Pattern: Sew Together Bag by Sew Demented

Required Sewing Supplies

  • Sewing machine in good working order.

(this is a MUST; we’ll be sewing through up to 8 layers of fabric and stabilizer)

  • Both a ¼” presser foot AND a zipper presser foot appropriate to your machine. ● New Schmetz sewing machine needles 100/16 and 90/14 (denim or universal).
  • Rotary cutter with sharp blade.
  • 6” x 24” (a 6” x 12” is optional, but helpful if you own one).
  • Seam gauge or 1” x 6” quilter’s ruler.
  • Scissor (snips for thread should be all you need).
  • Clover Wonder Clips™ (I highly recommend these for this project).
  • Favorite {erasable} marking tool (Chaco-pen™, Frixon™ pen, tailor’s chalk).
  • Seam ripper.
  • Straight pins; I find flower head pins work best for this project.
Fabric and Notions:
  • ½ yard fabric for exterior (100% cotton, cotton linen, or cotton canvas blend)
  • ½ yard fabric for lining (100% cotton)
  • 1/3 yard fabric for pocket lining
  • Thread (50 or 40 weight for piecing—I like 28 wt. for topstitching) all neutral to your fabrics.
  • 1, 20” zipper*
  • 3, 12” zippers*
  • 12” x 14” piece of Annie’s Soft ‘n Stable™ or Pellon Flex Foam™
